This Is A Wee Bit Late..

BUT!
If you still have not been able to find a good gift for me, I'd very much enjoy a copy of sheet music of cruella devile song. Not the watered down, simplified version either. I know I'm not nearly talented enough to play it right off the bat, but I am hoping I could maybe get some if it down.
If its too late, that's okay. I will go to the music store myself and find it.
Just so everyone knows what's going on with me... (because I know you all care...)
For Christmas I think Saturday is going to be gift exchange at Korey's. I may drive up Friday night, I may stay Saturday night, I'm not sure, but I will be up there a majority of the day and night.
Sunday we are planning on coming to the Christmas Eve party. I'll have to find some flannel for Korey.... *snicker* I'll probably spend the night at home Sunday night. Christmas day I'll probably stay until after dinner but then I've got to get some serious packing done. -_-; I've not even thought about it thus far...

AND AN IMPORTANT REMINDER:
Pay attention while driving!!! Traffic is very bad and hard to deal with this time of year but I saw THE WORST accident today and I'll admit I've been a bit negligent and absent minded recently, so this woke me up. The teenagers' car who caused the accident was 1/2 its original size. They slammed into the person in front of them, bringing their hood into the drivers seat and sliding the car they smashed into right up into the car in front of it and the car in front of that car. The person behind the accident causing car smashed into the back of it, bringing the back of the accident causing car right through the back seats.

And, on a happier note, my grades for the semester are as follows:
Writer's Workshop: A (Hell yeah!)
Tech. Writing: A (A large, happy, sigh of relief...)
Foundations of TCOM: A
Ecology: C
Yeah, a C isn't so great, but I'm through with my science core now and the last class I have to take that I anticipate not doing so well in is Pre-Calc... yeah, I know, again. -_- Then it should be mostly A's from then on out.
And, while my Cumulative GPA is a 3.02, I can always say my Major GPA is a 4.0! ^_^

Here Comes Christmas!

I am very much looking forward to Christmas this year. I can't wait!

2 Weeks

So Christmas Eve is in 2 weeks and i found out today we're going to have a appetizer dinner before our campout. So I was wondering if we could have Root Beer Floats as a drink on the Menu. I love them!
Anyhow, I dont know about the rest of you but I know I'm ready for this semester to be over. I jest need it to be next week. This coming week is going to be so stressful.
Im so looking forward to our campout and Christmas Break in general. WOOH!
Oh and I have another suggestion. Could we play a board game on Christmas Eve? That'd be fun!

To My Secret Santa!!!

Well, to tell you the truth, i dont know exactly what I want.
  • I have an amazon wish list going and if you go there then you can get me anything off of there. There are like 27ish items on there.
  • Anything disney will make me happy!
  • Socks
  • Gift Cards (Disney store, Boarders)
  • I like board games. Trivia games mainly. I do have a lot of games so be careful with that one.
  • Anything else you think I might like.

I'm so very sorry if this doesn't help.

Three things

Hi everyone!

I was just posting to say a few things:

1) I got my i-pod back already! Or well...they replaced it. So I got a new one. Woot. Apple (even if some people don't like them) is pretty sweet about customer service.

2) I got a B on my last calc test! It was only an 80 but it was my highest grade all year. So unless I do something REALLY stupid, I will end up with a C. That care package is coming in handy...more like making me FAT in addition to how stressed I am! :D

3) Some people (...Mom and George and Cheyenne...) still haven't posted what they want from their secret santas. I don't know who has them but that really isn't fair. So someone who is home, get on their case about that.

Um..yeah. That is it I guess.
Except I have this funny sesonal themed picture for you. Can you guess what that is?

Hope everyone is well.

Secret Santa....

Okay. Here we go.... I can't really think of things I want so much, but I'll try.

- A bunch of kitty cat themed socks! =^..^= Seriously, I feel old now, but I need some socks...
- A pair of leather or faux-leather but not knit gloves for driving - black or light brown
- I liked Veronica's "a cute purse", big enough to fit a checkbook wallet in.
- Final Fantasy I & II for the Gameboy Advance (I know Amazon had it for $19.99 for a while)
- A Nintendo DS wireless link thing. Actually, I'm not sure what it is because I've never seen it, but it lets the DS go wireless. Therefore, I have no idea of the price.
- A set of four nice big mugs

Wow, the things you want when you get older seem stupider and stupider.... -_-;

Georgia Tech: Not So Subtle

So, in mid October, I received a letter from Georgia Tech. Seems they wanted me to buy a care package for Emma during finals week. Well, it sounded like a nice idea anyway, but they really put the hammer down! Talk about a guilt-trip! Here is the actual text of the letter:

Subject: Send A Care Package To Help Your Student Through Finals

Two students showed up to get their Care Packages. One beamed when she received her package. The other, whose family had not reserved a package, immediately used her cell phone and called Mom with a plaintive "You didn't send me a Care Package?"

Because so many students receive Care Packages during exam time, it can hurt if a student is left out...
...
A Care Package is tangible proof that the people students count on are thinking of them at exam time. It makes them feel supported, not alone.
...
If you've sent one before, you already know how much it helped. If you haven't, you can be sure your student will appreciate receiving the same kind of support other classmates receive.

Now that's talent. Well you can bet I ran to my desk and whipped out my checkbook that very day. Fortunately, they had a vegan-friendly Fruit Basket Pack or I would have been in a real pickle.

Emma got her care package today and says it's really nice. I'm glad. So if she bombs her Calc II final, at least it won't be my fault!!!!

Wish List.

Christmast List.

I have one thing on my amazon wish list. I would probably love you forever if you got it for me.

More:
A new straightener(one like Twila's, because its fast.)
A gift card to ULTA. It doesnt have to be a large amount of money either.
A gift card to Target. It has got to be one of my favorite stores now.
Any teen book will do. I do like the typical love story teen-bopper books.
Chicken Soup for the Soul books make me happy too.
A new purse, cute new purse.
A giftcard to Payless would me nice too. I want to get some new shoes.

Alright. That's really it.
I don't really need an MP3 player because I know I will never use it. Maybe next year though.

Secret Santa Wish List

Hey family,

This post is to broadcast want from my secret santa to help someone in the family out and get everyone else to post what they want!
So this is it--

Vegan with a Vengeance : Over 150 Delicious, Cheap, Animal-Free Recipes That Rock
which is obviously a cookbook. This book is sold at Borders and also at amazon.com

My life has been so stressful since I have been back at school...I can't even tell you about it! I had a major test in every single class yesterday. But my countdown says only 16 more days!

And my i-pod died. Seriously died. When I turn it on a sad i-pod with x's for eyes shows up on the screen!!!! But thankfully it is still under warranty, so Apple is sending me the packing materials and I get to send it back. Damn MP3 players!

Last sunday when I ate over at Ethan's, his brother made so much fun of me eating a veggie burger. And there was a whole problem with the fact that they only have one flipper for the grill so they made my burger on the george foreman to avoid contamination. Seriously, his brother wouldn't shut up about how stupid that was.

And then...get this... When his mom went to cut him cheese for his burger, he made her WASH the knife because she cut lettuce with it. LETTUCE! Which is mostly water anyway!

I told his mom that I am used to getting made fun of, but I realized that it has been a long time since I was really made fun of by the family. That is nice.

I will be home again on sunday. So I will see some of you then.

Hope everyone is doing well.
and please post your wish list for Secret Santa!

Emma 9.1% 1

Cheyenee 0% 0

Veronica 0% 0

Flannel Shirt order

If you need a flannel shirt for the Christmas Eve party, just post a comment here. Lots of colors available --- red blue gray brown green --- so let me know which you prefer. Also, they are men's sizes S-M-L-XL-2XL. So let me know what size too. I got myself a medium and it seems a little big. It will probably shrink after it's washed. (Veronica, if you need one I will check boys' sizes, because even the men's small will be too big for you).

Not My Favorite Holiday, But...

[Updated by DaddyMike at 8:24 PM EST]

I am very excited and feeling happy about Thanksgiving this year. It is so good to be home for a week and to know that we are going to have EVERYBODY over on Thanksgiving day, including Uncle Sid and Aunt Boonya.

On Thanksgiving Eve we are going to have a special movie night. Ethan and Korey are also invited. We will be making popcorn and perhaps some other goodies as well. Does anyone like Root Beer floats? If there is a good turnout, we will move the coffee table into the music room so there will be room for all on the floor. I've select a special movie that no doubt some will expect to be lame, but I saw it on an airplane and thought that it was superb, so I'm asking everyone to leave their opinions elsewhere and give the movie a chance. Show time will be around 8:00. Dinner plans for Wednesday night haven't been finalized. I will discuss that with ConnieMom and one us will post details tonight or tomorrow.

[Dinner will be at 6:30. We are getting Gallas Pizza. I will have them cut it NY Style. If you decide to make other plans please be here at 8:00 PM for the movie. Please let me know in advance if I can expect you for dinner.]

On the menu for Thursday will be the traditional turkey, gravy, stuffing, sweet potatoes, various treats including some vegan goodies and some macaroni with my organic vegan version of Mammy's pasta sauce. Not even table sugar in this batch. I think dinner will be around 3-4 O'clock, but we will update the blog with that information as well.

[Dinner will be after 3:00 - time approximate. We are telling Sid & Julie to come around 2:00.]

Thursday morning we will have a brief family meeting announcing our official "Studying Abroad" policy." Some time after Dinner ConnieMom and I will announce this year's Christmas party theme. At some point we will also be choosing our SecretSantas. Remember, this year we are sticking to it: - No one is to buy presents for each other or for ConnieMom and DaddyMike outside of their Secret Santa.

See you all here!

Of all the things I *could* say about this recent poll, I would just like to say:

Way to spell Cheyenne's name, Mom.

It's not just a name, but a freakin' capital!

Sunday, November 19, 2006

you'll never guess

I just don't think anyone would guess the theme for this year's Christmas Eve party... The only one who knows, other than me, is Mike, and he said it was okay, so we're pretty certain about it at this point. Hint: It is not a decade theme this year.

When/how should I announce it? On the Blog? At Thanksgiving?

Feel free to suggest ideas for future themes, too. It's always good to get ideas.

Hi All!

We're looking forward to seeing you all at Thanksgiving.

The menu is Roasted Soy Turkey, Veggie Loaf,

Yes, Emma, they assure me that it is ALL VEGAN.
(even the Au Gratin Potatoes)

I might even manage to whip up a batch of Quigley Biscuits
(definitely NOT vegan :-)

See you all on TOFURKEY day!

:D

Oh and Emma's sitcom story of the day...
Last night in my dorm the fire alarm went off.
and if it wasn't bad enough that it was 1:30am and FREEZING outside and took 25 mintes,

I WAS IN THE SHOWER!
So I had to get out with conditioner in my hair and stand out side wet in my bathrobe with everyone laughing at me.
But some random guy let me wear his hat so I didn't die. Yeah...it had to happen to someone eventually, might as well be me I guess.
heh.

Ethan got glasses...He needs his as much as I need mine, but someday I will make him wear them over to the house so you can all laugh.

I will be home on sunday! and home for the holiday sometime wednesday night!
I miss you all.

See you soon

How Has Everyone Been?

So i noticed that no one has posted sinse yesterday so i wanted to post. First off, how has everyone been? Oh and I want an answer from you all. I dont care if its jest a "good" or whatever. i want something. OK? good. Secondly we have a week until Thanksgiving! Isn't that exciting. Us high school kids get next Wednesday through Friday off. Then we only have 4 more shopping weeks until Christmas. Sheesh its funny how time flies. I don't know about you guys, but I feel like Christmas feels like yesterday. So does anybody know what the theme for our Christmas Eve party is this year? I'm excited to see what crazy thing we're going to do this year.

So jest curious, does anyone know a cure for procrastination? i have a bad case of it and need treatment pretty badly. Anyhow, i guess I'll see you all later!

Lots of Love.
Cheyenne

Sunday, November 12, 2006

Because I don't think I've ever posted....

Am I really *that* hard to buy for? ;_;

Apparently I'll have to post a list for the poor soul who draws my name...

Otherwise in my life: I am very stressed out. I didn't realize being a TCOM major would require a research paper of some sort in EVERY class... However, instead of doing anything, I sat and watched Korey play Final Fantasy XII for like 6 hours... ^^; It is very pretty...!

And I made a super hamburger! It was HUGE!

.

.

.

Anyway, notes!

Mom: Perhaps we can come over for dinner Monday or Wednesday and I can read up? Although the idea completely disgusts me! -_-; Or can I do it over Thanksgiving? Thank would be mucho better, but if you're doing it before then that's okay too. Oh, and I'm completely watching the cheesiest Animal Planet show and it reminds me of you! There's about to be a giant bug! I think it's called Prehistoric Zoo or something. BTW - That room picture was great. I looked at it and said: "Does George have a refridgerator in his room now???" I completely thought it was a picture of his room!! -_-!

Emma: I have a gift for you I forgot to give you. -_-; One day before Thanksgiving I may possibly be cleaning over doesn't compare to a fall break. Did you know Tessla was a real dude??? Korey and I saw that movie with some of his friends from Blue Ridge but we were freaking out when he was in it. He was pretty cool. You should look him up. He wanted to have free energy current thru DC current. Or maybe AC. Whichever one we don't run on now. ^^; Not my forte. Oh, and which Phsyics are you taking? Korey completely doesn't recommend Calculus based because it's just ten times harder with really no Calculus involved. :/ Just a word of warning. ^.^

Um... Otherwise... My classes are doing good minus my slight neglect of them. A tad worried about Ecology.

Starting a new position at work. ^_^ Hopefully it means pay raise... but it also means I don't have to deal with customers or Christi! Yay!

After Thanksgiving I may start volunteering at the Battered Women's Shelter at the insistence of the Honor's Program. But luckily it will just be filing and mailing and such so it shouldn't take up too much time.

And the Formula Racecar team is begging me back on Facebook! -_-; But I think I'm going to hold off on that as my least priority.

Especially since after Christmas I'll be in Editor-in-Chief training for The Sting! ^_^ More stress but I figured out a way I can pay myself... Heehee. If the price of paper goes down as gas prices go down... *grumble grumble* And I might have a news writer lined up!

I think that's about it... I'm going to go make some pasta by combining sauces and adding meat so we'll see how that goes...

finally!!!!!!!!!!

An end to the lunacy of this Republican "reign of error". Here are the results from Daily Kos:

Sen House Governors
Dems: 51 234 28
Reps: 49 201 22
D+/-: +6 +29 +6

It looks like the Dems will end up with a majority in the Senate, though not everyone agrees that it's over yet. But it looks likely.

A day of celebration for democrats today; but there is a LOT of work ahead to try to straighten out the mess we've gotten into.
Hey family,

I was just posting to tell you all that I managed to register for classes next semester, with a little hassle. All the good math teachers were taken before my registration opened.

I am taking Calc III, Intro to Physics, English II, and Organic Chemistry. Woo.
But I didn't sign myself up for a 7-10pm lab again, so that is good.

I hope everyone is doing well.
I will be home Sunday morning and will need a ride back to Tech sometime. I think.
Maybe I will get to see some people?

Election Day

Election Day is on tuesday, right?

Being as I want to vote and was too stupid and busy to vote in advance, I need to find a way to get home to do that.
Monday evening I have a group meeting that is probably going to last until 8pm.
But I was wondering, if I ride Marta to Northsprings around 8, do you think I could get a ride home?
And if I do that, is there anyway I could get out to vote tuesday and be back to school by noon?

I don't know what is up and who is doing what, so just let me know if there is anyway something could happen!

I have class from 12-1:30 and from 4:30 - 6 on tuesday. That is my only constraint.

If that is impossible I might be able to get Ethan to take me with him, so no worries! I was just checking

Thanks!
I hope everyone had a good weekend. I had a good time in Athens, but now I have to do some serious studying for a math test on wednesday.

Secret Santa Poll

The results are in: Twila is the most dreaded name to get in the Secret Santa drawing! There were 5 votes for Twila, and 2 for Mike --- and Cheyenne reports that one of the votes for Mike was an accident.

Some votes are missing of course. One thing I realized is that when I disallow multiple votes, those of you who have to share a computer may not get a vote, so I'll probably turn that off.

So what do we do with Twi? How about having her post a list of potential Secret Santa items she would like to get?

That wouldn't be a bad idea for everyone... why not put a comment on this post, listing some ideas for Secret Santa items... either for yourself or others.

Secret Santa purchases should be in the $20 range, and not more than $25.

One final note on Secret Santa: Please limit your family gift giving to your Secret Santa item! This means NO extra gifts, not even for me & Mike. The whole purpose of Secret Santa is to keep spending under control. The kids in college need their money for other things. And those who can't afford extra gifts can feel badly about it.

I know it is great fun to give, but it doesn't make sense to overspend when we have a convenient and fair way to limit spending.

All Clean Up!!

Does this resemble a room you know?

Over the coming weeks, I am going to be looking for a house cleaning service. Since I don't want them to run screaming from the house on the initial visit, some of you need to do a serious quantity of cleaning in your rooms.

This includes those children who are away at college. Specifically, one special daughter of mine, who shall remain nameless as I don't need to name her, has to get home and, at minimum, throw some things away. Like empty plastic bags, unwanted clothing, and at least SOME skeins of yarn and half-finished knitting projects.

I'm not even going to MENTION George's room here, cause he doesn't read the blog anyway.

And as for the rest of you, please find some time over the next two weeks to straighten things up a bit. Your efforts will be greatly appreciated!!

Some plans I didn't know about

So...
A little birdy told me that my mom might be going to PA for the christmas holiday and I was wondering if no one informed me b/c I was not invited or just because there were no set plans.

Because if you don't want me there... that is cool too.........
I can just spend christmas at Ethan's house or something..........

His family watches Nightmare Before Christmas every year and that is better than a Christmas Story anyway...
Just kidding!

But yeah, when/if there are details, I would like to know them.

And ps to mom, when I come home next time...I will return a piece of your tupperware and a fork that I accidently took.

And ps to anyone, did Twila come by and get kacie's chargers yet?

Thanks!

Tuesday. November 7

Just thought I'd remind everyone that next Tuesday, we, as in high school students, have no schoooool.
Maybe you college students have the day off too, but I wouldn't know.
Just thought I'd tell everyone. :o)

Happy Halloween!

No one posted a Happy Halloween Message yesterday! and No one pretty much means mom. So I am going to do it instead.

Happy Halloween!

Did we get any trick-or-treaters?
Did anyone do anything cool/exciting?

Ethan, Kelli, and I went to see The Prestige which was AMAZING and I highly reccommend everyone fork over the dough to go see it. It is totally worth it. I actually screamed out loud.
Ethan was getting text messages from his group partner in architecture all night. Poor guy.

You better not read this and not comment. Press the comment button. Now. Do it.
Even if you didn't do anything, I want to know.
So comment, okay?

:D Hope everyone has a good wednesday!

My tests recently

Hey family,

Just posting on what is going on with me.

I got my math test back... 71. That's not great or anything but I am just stoaked that I improved. I got perfect scores on the first two problems, but only 1 point of credit on the 3rd and 4pts on the fourth. LAME. But as long as I do better on the next two tests, hopefully I can get a B. That's just the way Tech is I guess.
I got an 89 on my CS test which is great. Much improved from the first one.

Also I had my academic advisment and I am going to start working full time either this summer or next fall. If I don't start working this summer I will probably be taking 2 classes at SPSU or Kennesaw. I will soon know for sure.

But I found out that there are only 10 other people majoring in Environmental Engineering at Tech. My advisor also said that it was harder than Civil because I have to take pretty much all of the lab sciences. Woo! But that is the part of science I like most, so hopefully I am doing the right thing.

I am sitting in chem right now so I better go.
Hope everyone is doing well, see you again in a few weeks!

Studying Abroad

Hey everyone! This is mostly for the parents, but the information for the study abroad program that I want to do here: Link

OK, well I can't get the link to work. But, if you navigate to where it leads you, click on Study Abroad on the left hand side, adn then look at the Cannes Film Festival, thats the information I am trying to show.

Its only a maymester, but I will get credit towards my minor AND magazine major, and its short enough where I can either do GHP or an Internship over the summer if I choose.

Well thats all.

Talk to everyone soon!!!

Happenings...

Of course the BIG news is the RHCP Concert last night. Kacie, Emma & Cheyenne all report it was totally awesome and "those old guys can still play pretty good." ;-) It all went off without a hitch, despite the last minute confusion noted by Cheyenne in her recent post.

Mike's flight WAS due in from Washington DC at 8:24 pm tonight. But it was cancelled, and his new flight was delayed. It now shows an arrival some time after 10:00. :( He will be leaving for California on Sunday again, but spends the last half of the week at home. YAY!!

Kacie is celebrating her fall break this week by doing laundry. And other things too of course!

Twila and Korey came by for dinner on Monday. It was nice to have the company!

I met Twila's roommate Karen last night; the three of us had dinner at Magic Wok. Karen is really nice and dinner was great. Afterwards I drove them home and stopped by Twi's apartment for a minute. Her room is not too terriby messy yet, and she has a nice shower curtain!

George was really really sorry to miss the RHCP concert. Now he wants to go to the Primus concert in November... anyone volunteer to take him?

Choppy hurt his foot on his walk with Kacie yesterday, but it seems a little bit better today. I'm considering whether or not he needs to go to the vet.

Veronica reports that the concert went well last week. Sorry we had to miss it!

Kacie, Cheyenne and Veronica are all expected over this weekend. Emma is expected home for at least a short visit too.

Uncle Sid and Aunt Boonya visited the aquarium in Atlanta last Monday. Aunt Boonya reports that the whales were worth the trip. Now I really want to go! She also reminds us that the Louvre exhibit opened at the High Museum this month. Try to get there if you can!

Don't forget to check out the new poll today!! Last week's poll winner was no surprise: Republicans are the Worst Thing Ever! (As a group, anyway. There are certain ones we still love!)

Finally, pic of the day...

DON'T FORGET --- THE TIME CHANGES THIS WEEKEND!

Daylight Savings times ends Oct 29, and we set our clocks back for an extra hour of sleep.

Special notes about the time change:

Since 1966, most of the United States has observed Daylight Saving Time from at 2:00 a.m. on the first Sunday of April to 2:00 a.m. on the last Sunday of October. BUT, beginning in 2007, most of the U.S. will begin Daylight Saving Time at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and revert to standard time on the first Sunday in November.

Also, Georgia Navigator traffic site reports:

Beginning Monday, the sun will go down 1 hour earlier, with full darkness around 6 pm. For whatever reason, this time shift significantly affects traffic patterns during the afternoon. For the next couple of weeks, motorists can expect severe congestion during the evening rush hour, and are advised to allow extra time to reach their destinations or alter travel plans.

Mike's travel changed for next week

Mike will be flying to California this coming Sunday, and returning on the "red eye" early Wednesday morning. The rest of the week he will be working in town.

He was supposed to be in New Jersey, but the plans changed. Happily, this was a good last minute change, with more time at home!! Looks like we will get a "regular" Wednesday night next week!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TWILA!!

Don't forget to wish Twi a happy birthday today!

She turns 20!!

Weird Al Fans Unite!

I know there are a few Weird Al fans in the family, so I thought you might be interested in this: Weird Al in Top Ten. Of course, now that I am an Old Person, I have no idea what song he is parodying. But his official web site is here.

Maybe you Youngsters can clue me in...

Tommorow

Tommorow, Tuesday, I have a chorus concert. It starts at seven. I know it's late notice, but if anyone would like to come, its at the high school. Not to sound cocky, but our schools advanced women, bella voce, is extremely talented this year. So, if you have the time and oppurtunity to make it, you should.

Georgia College and State University

So my visit there was much fun. I love the campus. It was so small and not confusing to get around. The campus was so pretty. I seriously didn't want to leave. And the dorms were very nice. They were small, but all of them are suite style so it's 2 rooms connected to 1 bathroom and 2 girls to each room. They also had a nice workout center. It was like a smaller version of the Y. The best part about it was that u can sign up for a personal trainer for FREE! The guide said that there was no excuse for the freshman 15 with that workout center there. Also, basically everything at the school is free if your a student (including games and the medical center) which is an awesome plus. Anyhow, I jest wanted to let you all know that I had fun today visiting the college and that i really want to go there.

Worried about voting?

For those of you away at school (or away on business), maybe you are worried about getting home on election day to cast your tender little vote. Well, don't worry. There is an alternative to cutting class.

Option 1: You can vote by mail. Follow the instructions under "Absentee Voting By Mail". But don't delay --- you have to fax in your application for a ballot and then they send you a ballot by mail, which you then have to mail back so it gets to them by election day (Nov 7).

Options 2: If you will be in town before then, you can also vote "absentee in person". From October 30 through November 3, you can vote Absentee at the following locations:

  • Cobb Elections Main Office, West Park Government Center, 736 Whitlock Ave., Suite 400, Marietta, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • East Cobb Government Service Center, 4400 Lower Roswell Rd., Marietta, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • South Cobb Government Service Center, 4700 Austell Road, Austell, Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • West Cobb Parks & Recreation District Office, Lost Mountain Park, Dallas Highway, Marietta, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • North Cobb Senior Center (at Kennworth Park), 4100 Highway 293 (Old 41), Acworth, Monday – Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

There are more instructions at the Cobb County Board of Elections web site.

new poll

Here's the last results:

Cable or Cleaning?

Should we get cable tv, or hire back a maid service?

Hire a maid and go to the gym to watch The Daily Show!! 83.3% 5

Cable. I'll clean the house for you! 16.7% 1

Thanks!!!!!! Now we just gotta find someone Mike and I can both agree on... probably NOT going to be easy.

Back at school

Hello family,

I just wanted to say (mostly for mom's sake) that I did not get my calc test back today because ours need to be regraded or something. So who knows when I will get that.

I enjoyed seeing everyone this weekend!
Ethan will probably drop me off again Sunday morning now that he is working back at Borders. So I might need a ride back to school.

All-State Audition

I'm sure some of you were wondering the results of my audition from Saturday, while others might not have known I had one. Unfortunately I will not be going to Savannah this year. There's always next year I suppose.

Happenings

We had a houseful today, everyone but Twi for dinner. Kacie will be going back to UGA tonight, but Emma is home until at least Tuesday, we think, due to the GA Tech fall break. Thanks to Mike for the delicious pasta sauce!

Mike is home until next Sunday, when he'll be off for Reston, VA.

RHCP Concert next week! Looks like MAYBE Cheyenne will get the extra ticket. Kacie will be here for the UGA Fall break next week. Probably going to need to work out the use of the Bonneville for the night of the concert.

I think we'll have Twi & Korey for dinner tomorrow... how do cheeseburgers on the grill sound?

Choppy got a wash and trim today. Reviews are mixed.

George finally got new sneakers and a hoodie. Wish he could get his old (expensive) hoodie (from Pac Sun) back from the girl (Meg) who has it... any ideas on how to do that?

Cheyenne took the SAT yesterday at Pope high school. Will be a couple of weeks for the results. Good luck Cheyenne!!!

Veronica auditioned for All-State Chorus yesterday. It only took three hours--- arghh. Keep your fingers crossed!

Thanks Kacie , Emma and Cheyenne for helping carry the new tables into the house! They are very nice.

Finally, pic of the day...

new poll

I'm trying a different polling service; hopefully it will do away with the annoying popups that the other poll was putting up.

Previous Poll Results:

How much would YOU pay for Comcast Cable?

1. Anything! I WANT MY MTV!!!!!!! 0 0%
2. Cable? How bourgeois. I'm an intellectual. 0 0%
3. As much as YOU can afford without affecting my allowance. 2 29%
4. I would love cable but I would never support the anti consumer & anti labor policies of this tyrannical monopoly, at any price! Live Free Or Die! 3 43%
5. Huh? 2 29%

Total Votes: 7

Looks like it's "no" to Comcast, at least for now...

Don't let this happen to you!!!

With all the teenage drivers in the house, this one hits a little too close to home...

The photo depicts "the aftermath of an July 2005 accident in Fort Smith, Arkansas, the result of a teenage driver who was distracted by a cell phone and ran his Ford F-150 pickup truck off the road, sending the vehicle airborne and launching it into a garage, where it came to rest atop a Ferrari." Here is the newspaper report:
A Fort Smith family had their home remodeled, unintentionally, after a pickup truck landed in their garage on top of a 2000 Ferrari.

The accident happened just before four Sunday evening on Jenny Lind Road in Fianna Hills. According to the police report, the teenage driver reached for a cell phone and ran off the road and became airborne. He caused about two hundred thousand dollars worth of damage to the garage, the Ferrari, a PT Cruiser as well as 2 motorcycles.

The speed limit is posted at 30 miles per hour, but the owner of the damaged home as well as neighbors say there have been plenty of problems in the past. It's been nonstop traffic for the neighborhood with a steady stream of cars driving by to get a view of a flattened Ferrari and devastated garage.

Owner Steve Marts wasn't home at the time of the accident, but got the bad news over the phone. "I was just numb, just real numb," Marts said."

I'm afraid "Ooooops?!!" won't quite cut it here!

My recipes

Email me any recipe you want posted (yours or mine) and I'll add it. I use "Big Oven" software; these recipes can be imported directly into Big Oven.

I'll put a link in the sidebar too....

Recipe Links

ConnieMom was supposed to put up a recipes link where we could start posting some of our favorite family recipes like:

Enough Mike Noodles
Brazilian Macaroni Salad
Mammy's Pasta Sauce
Connie's Pizza Sauce for Publix Pizza
Italian Beef

Oh well, I guess she's too busy sneaking Chopper snacks like honey ham and potato chips every night.

Things are going well here this week. I had dinner with a friend of mine from grade school last night. He had moved away when I was G&Z's age and we lost touch up until a few years ago. He is now a law professor at Berkley. We had some real mexican food - but in the middle of the night my stomach told me to stick to Cazadores.

I love and miss you all and hope to see at least the bulk of you this weekend. I will be home all next week.

Love,
- DaddyMike

Garage Door Code Changed!!

Don't forget to check your phone text messages to get the new code.

Happenings

Cheyenne and Veronica are here this weekend! Both are here tonight; both have to work tomorrow.

Emma, as she has said, is expected here tomorrow. Yay!!!

Don't think we'll see Kacie until MAYBE next weekend, maybe not.

Not sure where Twila is... but if you poke around the SPSU web site, you might find some of her articles in the latest issue of The Sting.

George CAN'T WAIT till Emma gets here... Hmmmm, wonder why??

Mike is leaving for California on Sunday. He's coming home on the red eye Friday night, so we won't see much of him until next Saturday. I should be updating his travel schedule soon.

Speaking of next Saturday, Cheyenne is taking the SAT's, and Veronica has All-State Chorus tryouts next Saturday. They will be here that weekend too because we switched weekends last week.

We moved the BIG COUCH AND CHAIR down to the Girl's Room. Thanks Korey & George for the help!

Watch out for Uncle Sid!!! He may be lurking on the site!

RHCP is just around the corner now...

And SOMEBODY has a birthday coming up...

Let me leave you with My Pretty Picture... specially for you math & computer geeks...

Some laughs

I just thought I would post this picture, because I have nothing to do before my chemistry teacher figures out how to work the projector.

Just something funny for friday.

I can't decide who looks more different!

Can't wait to see whoever is home on saturday. I will call before I show up.

Hope everyone had a good week.

Emma and the Weekend

Hello everyone...

I was just posting to say that I will probably be home on sunday for a little while in the morning. I am not sure when, but Ethan is going to bring me by. I might ask for a ride back from someone if I can get one.
I will bring my ipod mini for George.

And uh...I think that is all. Back to studying for me!

Goodnight!

ps. I thought you might be interested in knowing that the code I just executed for my computer science homework almost crashed my computer! Wrote a recursive code to draw a sierpinski triangle that was...pretty huge. Think I could have done something wrong?

Where is Zonk?

For those who wondering about how I'm doing

Which I know is everyone. :D

First of all, my date on Sunday with the guy from my photo class was a disaster since he told me he was looking for a wife. O_o Yeah, uh......

School is good. My apartment looks good still.

Other than that, I guess there's nothing to tell.

I'll be home sometime before fall break...I hope....b/c I'm gonna have a docotr's appt, and I'm gonna try to split the time between the houses, but I guess it will depend on when that is. But dont worry, I'll definately be around fall break, post RHCP CONCERT WHICH IS ONLY 22 SHORT DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!

Love,
Kacie

whoa nellie!!!

Before things get ugly,

let me explain.

The Thanksgiving poll is really more of an opinion poll, and not a vote. I'm basically a Thanksgiving Turkey kinda gal, always have been, always will be. And since I'm generally the cook, that pretty much seals the deal.

That being said, I propose we offer a side of spaghetti at Thanksgiving this year, for those who want it. A bit unusual perhaps, but we're not really a family known for its conformity, are we?

Before You Vote in The Poll

Think of the poor Turkey who's life will be spared. Think of our dear Emma, who will either throw her vote away on Tofurkey, or will do the practical thing and vote with me. If we don't get enough votes, what will happen to Emma then?

What about poor little Kacie? She won't eat Turkey either.

And, think of yourselves! It is my turn to buy the turkey this year, and I am leaning toward the Cajun turkey because I liked it better than the traditional one.

Do you?

Vote like a winner! This Thanksgiving, it's gotta be

SPAGHETTI!

Mmmm, doesn't this look good?

Look who WOULD vote for Turkey...

Bored much...?

And here I thought I'd be a member of the family who would never do something this degrading and humiliating....
BTW - I do think Korey and I are coming over for dinner Monday. I know the whole family doesn't care... but it IS easier than calling.
