Let's vent about those Roomies!

With everyone back in school, I thought it might be fun to share a bit of your college experience by posting your best (or worst) TRUE roommate aggravation story to the blog! Post pictures too, if you have them... but, um, remember --- this is a family blog!

The best part --- anyone who posts a story will be automatically entered into a random drawing for a $25 Amazon.com gift certificate. No kidding. I get gift certificates as perks from my Amazon Visa card, and I have one right now in my possession that's up for grabs. I'll give you till the end of September before the drawing.

I will probably put up a poll for voting on the best story, just for fun, but the gift certificate drawing will be random, and not based on the poll winner. After all, our voting is known to be suspect!

Also, grownups are invited to post their stories too. Veronica & George, you can just make something up if you want in the drawing.

So give it a shot! After all, misery loves company, and I KNOW there is SOMETHING on Amazon you've been wanting...

I have one from every year!!!

Freshman year: LEAH--One Sunday I came home after being in Kennesaw for the weekend and all of her DIRTY laundry was piled on my floor and desk chair, and one of her thongs was in my BED!!!

Sophomore Year: ALLISON--Her and her boyfriend had a really VIOLENT fight in front of me and he called her a bitch and stormed out and she cried for hours.

Junior Year: GABRIELLE--She was the worst!! She freaked out b/c she thought I was using her pots (we had the same set!) and then she labeled all of her cabinents with signs that said "DONT TOUCH!" Then she left me a nasty note with all the things i did wrong. Then after I got back from the hospital that time I went in the middle night, she left a note that said "scrub the bathtub asap."

Senior Year: KRISTY--She seems cool so far, nothing bad yet, but the semester is youung.....

id first like to point out that kacie def. has an advantage because she's has roommates for a long period of time so of course she is going to have more stories and pick the best ones of those.
tho i guess i shouldnt complain b/c the prize isnt based on how good the story is so...

MAGGIE (aka, as kacie calls her, the beast): ok i think out of my three roomies, shes def. the WORST! First of all, you guys know how much of a germ freak i am right? so first i have to say that she NEVER washes her hands! is disgusting! we share a bathroom too, which makes it worse! one time when she was making chicken for the other 2 grils, she touched the semi cooked ckicken to see if the bottom was cooked yet, then just walked over to the rag in the sink and wipped her finger on it! didnt even bother really washing her hands! EW!! another thing with her is that she always complains about how she "always" has to do the dishes. jordan told me that she got on to Kelsey about how she didnt put something in the dishwasher and how she is always cleaning up "kelsey's" mess! i might just like to point out that maggie like NEVER cleans up after herself! the dishes she is always doing are her own! i always clean up my mess right after i have made it! jordan does the same. kelsey will leave a mess for a little while but she always ends up cleaning it up. im sorry if she was spoiled at home and never had to do her own dishes, but no one here is going to clean up after her. sorry! oh and its not just the dishes. she doesnt clean the bathroom eiher. looks like im gunna have to do it...again! i guess the last thing i have to say about her is shes loud and obnoxious and annoying! shes is constantly saying "omg im so fat!" like shes fishing for compliments! sorry im not going to give them to her! she never uses the key to the appt. door! she always rings the bell repeatedly and its loud and annoying! and i usually ignore it b/c i wish shed just use her stinking key!!!! good lord, i could seriously go on, but itd never end.

KELSEY(aka: the short little blond one): ok shes not so bad...when maggies not around. yes she leaves messes in the kitchen for like days, bit she does end up cleaning it up. she doesnt complain about how she "always as to clean" tho. she does get kind of annoying when she talks about Ryan. i really dont know what to call him. they are going out but they sure act like it...from what i heard from kelsey. ive never actually met him. other than sometimes being annoying, for the most part, i like her.

MAGGIE AND KELSEY: the food issue. you all have heard it. im not going to re-write the whole thing but ill say some. they basically told me that they thought that i should join them with the food thing. they told me that it made them mad about how i didnt want to and i told them that they basically needed to get over it. i know they still are mad at me about tho b/c just a few minutes ago, actually, kelseys mom and her moms friend were over. kelsey and maggie were showing the around the kitchen talking in perfectly normal voices. then they got to the groupy cabinet, and they lowered their voices. they knew i was here so i get the feeling that they were complaining about me. i mean im not stupid! i still dont understand why they are so mad about it!

JORDAN: shes cool. i cant think of any complaints about her.

i guess im done.

HA! So...Kelly my roommate from last year liked to drink.

One time I was awoken to the neighbor girl pushing kelly into our room so that the floor leader wouldn't see her being intoxicated on the hall. And then I had to pull her out of the closet when she fell trying to change her clothes AND sort out the issues with her "boyfriend" when she dropped her phone during that drunk call.

The worst time of all though was one morning when I was working at my desk. She woke up and was telling me about her CRAZY night and I noticed a red mark on her face. I thought it was from how she had slept. But then when she sat up her whole white shirt was covered in what looked like red paint or blood.

We both freaked out until she smelled it and verified that it was actually the mixed drink (apparently full of grenadine) she puked back up in her bed while asleep. Needless to say, I didn't give her any assistance there...

That was the grossest thing ever.

I don't really want to talk about my roommates because their issues are a little too fresh and painful ...hah

oh i left out something major about maggie: shes is the scariest flipping driver ever!!! for those who know how scary of a driver ed is, she is def. way scarier!!!

Hmmm, I would say Kacie has nothing on you, Cheyenne! You managed to tear off a pretty good rant!

Emma -- I guess the jury is still out on your new roommates! but I guess you've gotta be happy you don't have to deal with Kelly anymore.

Twi --- we are still waiting!!

Emma: If we do this next year I think you will have a lot more to say!

Cheyenne: shes is the scariest flipping driver ever!!!

Always head for the back seat and wear your seatbelt!

I forgot to mention something major. i dont know why i forgot about it so here i go...

my roomies really have no consideration for being quiet in the night time hours. over the summer, they (maggie and kelsey) did a reverse sleep thing. they would go to bed right after we got back from classes and get up at midnight and then do homework. well while they would be doing homework, they would be so loud!!!! theyre were countless times when i was rudly awakened at 4 in the morning! last night, in fact, i was rudley awakened at 3am! they were being so LOUD!! i wanted to go out and yell at them, but i was too tired to get up. then the night before last, it was about 12 and i had just gotton in to bed when one of maggie and kelseys friend had come and she brought a couple of her guy friends. the first thing wrong w/ that is that were not alowed to have guys in our apartment after 10! but they were being so loud! they had no sense to think that i was trying sleep! i was in my room with the lights off!! come on! they shoulod have known!!!!!!! grrrrr!!!!!! what makes it worse is that during the summer when they were tryiing to sleep when normal people are awake, they would yell at me and jordan if we were being loud! and when i say "being loud" i mean me and jordan were talking, not whispering, but talking normally!grrrrr!!!

Well, aside from the fact that Sera had no sense to clean milk from bowls, freshman year wasn't horrible...
Probably the worst roommate experience I had (which is no where near as bad as Cheyenne's) is with my Chinese roommates last year.
Oh man talk about culture shock.
I'm of the opinion that all of the Chinese students over here must be fabulously rich. Otherwise:
1. How can they afford to be over here?
2. How can they afford all those funky designer glasses they all seem to sport?
3. How can they have absolutely NO sense of cleaning and food contamination?
On the list of completely gross things I've seen while in that room:
1. Raw beef that missed the trash can and had been sitting next to it for who knows how long....
2. The floor, which when I got down on my knees and scrubbed it, became a completely different color. The associated brown water was pretty nasty.
3. Raw chicken, not wrapped or anything, simply sitting all goose-bumpy and gross in the freezer.
4. A pineapple that sat out so long it oozed juice all over the counter top and attracted all kind of fruit flies. However, on the up side of this experience, Korey taught me how to make a fruit fly trap and he was quite pleased with himself when it actually worked.
5. But by far the worst was the fridge. It never really occurred to me that if you left vegetables too long in a fridge that when they rotted they would turn into brown mush soaking in brown goo. However, this is probably because I never let vegetables sit in a fridge that long. I may not seem one to clean, but I trashed over half the stuff in that fridge and bleached it.
I guess you could say that the reason I finally decided to move out and into a room with someone I didn't necessarily get along with was this: I alone scrubbed the floor and bleached the fridge. These are things I do not really like to do. But when it goes back to the way it was within a month and NO ONE else seems to mind living in filth (or at least won't do anything about it) I simply can't take it any more.
So I left. To a nice, clean room. Or, at least, cleaner. I might still have to scrub the floor at some point.... But if they're willing to reciprocate, I will be much more pleased.

(I do understand that when I get a place of my own it will be my full responsibility - however, I will do my best to make sure it never gets that bad. And I won't be expecting help. The thing that irked me most was that they simply didn't care and acted like I was just going to keep doing it all by myself. Ha. I'd hate to see what that place looks like now.)

Chicken... UNWRAPPED... in the freezer!!! that one really got me! They just put the chicken in the freezer without even a superficial layer of Saran? that is just gross!

yikes!
