So, I guess "Park Hopper" passes wouldn't be necessary, since there are only TWO favorite parks?

Survey?

Hey guys! I have to do a survey for class so if you have a bit of time to answer 10 questions about the end of the world, I'd appreciate it! But if you don't care or even think about the end of the world, then, well, don't answer it I guess. Because it is for a class, so take it seriously. ^^; Thanks!

So

I do not know if everybody heard about my sort of acceptance to GCSU. I did not get accepted as a Fall Semester student, but I am nominated for this Summer Program there that will lead me to be a regular student there. I am pretty sure this is what I want to do (even though it does mean I will miss my last year of camp as a camper). But I do have to do an interview and then they choose if I am accepted. Thought I should let you know.

CURO Symposium

Hey everyone. Um, you may or may not know that I got nominated and accepted as a representative of the creative writing department in the CURO Undergrad Symposium for this year. I will be doing a presentation of my work (ie: a reading) at teh symposium on April 9th. That's a monday. If anyone can come make it an dsee me read, I'd really appreciate it. It's kind of a big deal, and um, yeah. That's it.

Love,
Kacie

for the girls...

If you haven't been there, this site is a lot of fun. It's kind of like playing with paper dolls, only on line. You can change clothes, hair, makeup, jewelry, accessories, even skin tone! I know at least a couple of you will think its fun.

Like you didn't have enough on the internet to waste your time on ....

To Emma

You'd better get to wear a hard hat so you don't get outdone by this cat!!!!
I don't exactly know what you want me to post... But here goes.
I've got tons of homework all the time.
And a speech I'm giving on compact flourscent light bulbs. O_o But I single-handedly got the speech moved back a day so I was pleased.
I got an A on a paper I thought I'd do worse on. But that might be because I don't think the teacher actually read it.
And I've got three group projects which all have little to no work done on them due to my wonderfully cooperative group members.
I'm probably coming home Thursday to finish my taxes. -_-;
Also Thursday I'm going to go scare impressionable young honors students & their parents who are coming to our school for a feeler. Ah, what wonderful fun! Twelve little high schoolers... Well, I've got to show them that there are occasionally girls at this school! Not to mention, free donuts and lunch! Excellent!
I'm pondering registering for summer classes.

Oh, and by the way:
And by the way, I went to a comedian's show last night with Korey. One thing lead to another and he ended up having the audiance hold a countdown for him to propose and....

He didn't. Heh heh. But I was glad. It was incrediably awkward. -_-;

happenings around home...

There are lots of things going on, both little and big.

Some of you know, Kacie was quite sick and spent most of the night last night in the hospital. She began to feel sick when I was driving her back to UGA on Sunday afternoon, and by Sunday night she was very ill, couldn't stop vomiting. She eventually called Mike and we advised that she go to the ER. Tests for appendicitis turned out negative; they think it was probably just a bad stomach virus. She is home now and feeling better, but still kind of tired. What a way to end Spring Break!

Of course, with Emma the Big News is her co-op job. She is very excited, and I can't blame her. What could be more fun than a whole summer of seismic refraction surveys! Check out the web site of her new employer if you get a chance. It is pretty interesting. But we have to start thinking about getting her a car to drive, so Ethan, if you are listening, we may need your help!

Twi was in Blue Ridge for the weekend. I'm assuming she made it back okay... (yes twi, that is a hint for you to call home... or at least post...) Meanwhile, Twi, don't worry about getting the car back here for Emma. I drove Mike to the airport so I could keep his car and Emma can drive mine during spring break this week when she needs to.

I think everyone had a good time at the Japanese restaraunt on Friday. I know I did! I think Korey liked his steak. And Emma managed to escape the butter and the flying chicken!

Veronica is almost finished with Driver's Ed. Just one more class. But she has to still take the driving portion of it. What fun! I think she will be pretty disappointed if she doesn't get finished by her birthday!

Speaking of driving, WATCH OUT! They are putting up cameras at the red lights in several places near our house. So make sure you STOP for yellow lights now, or you might get an unpleasant surprise when you open your mail to find a TRAFFIC TICKET with a picture of your car running a red light...

Mike's friend Greg was here for a visit on Monday. Most of you kids know him. We had a great dinner and lots of fun talking to him.

Uncle Sid and Aunt Boonya were in NY this past weekend visiting Uncle Rinny and Mammy. They found Mammy's recipe box --- we will be very interested to see that.

Speaking of recipes, I will soon be updating the recipe list with some of our favorite Aunt Boonay vegan & vegetarian delectables!

Cheyenne continues to wait for word on her application to GCSU. We are all keeping our fingers crossed!

Do you like the Renaissance period in history? well, I'm thinking George is pretty sick of it. He spent almost all day Sunday on a project that would have taken nomal people three weeks. He had to find a person or word from the Renaissance Period for every letter of the alphabet, write a paragraph and print a picture for each, and assemble it all into a 26 page booklet... and color the pictures! Not exactly a one-day project... but he got it done!

As for me, I'm just busy. But with Mike out of town, I'll probably be posting more often!!

So, I officially have a real, professional job!
The company I was most interested in for co-op called me today and made an offer and I accepted it. $13.50 an hour for 40 hours a week.
They are located in Kennesaw, which means very close and no downtown commute.
I don't have full details on when I will start, but I am going down to the office tomorrow to meet people and finalize the details.
Supposedly Phil, my interviewer, (or should I say Mr. Barber?) was singing my praises!

Here is what I'll be doing this summer:
"Co-ops will support geotechnical and materials engineers in performing subsurface explorations, seismic refraction surveys, erosion control inspections, CAD, soil classification, soil testing, concrete testing, agggregate testing, asphalt testing, and construction inspection."

Sounds fun, huh?
I just hope I get to wear a hard hat like this guy.

Quotes of the Evening:

Veronica: "This place is freaking me out."
George: "Uh, Twi - I think 'Shrimp' is already plural."
Cheyenne: "Veronica, are you going to eat the rest of your Zucchini?"
Emma: "Don't let that chicken touch my plate."
Ethan: "Er, I'd eat vegetarian Emma, but I don't want to insult your parents or anything...I'll have the steak teriaki please."
Korey: "Don't they have cheeseburgers here?"
Kacie: "Dad, I don't eat at ZAXBY'S!"
Twila: "What's up with that guy's ha-!!! Sorry Mike!"
ConnieMom: "Don't tell George there's onions and mushrooms in that soup that he just devoured.
DaddyMike: "First get married. Then you have a kid!"

"There are too such a thing as vegan vampires!"

Just some Emma Updates

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all well.
I just wanted to tell you about a few things.
I have been interviewing for my co-op jobs...and the job at HNTB is looking good. I am setting up a time to go down to see the offices. I would be doing transportation design if I end up getting hired at this company.
Thursday is the interview with Geo-Hydro which is my top pick.

Here is a picture of Ethan and I that I thought I would share. I know it is kinda goofy looking, but his mom wanted one to put in her locker at work...and she threatened to use a REALLY goofy one.
Also, take a nice long look at my hair because this was one of the last pictures of it being this long. I chopped it right after class today.
The hairdresser went a little crazier than I had asked...but you will just have to wait until Friday to find out what I mean by that.

We will almost 100% positively both be at dinner on Friday. I am excited. Ethan is working Saturday instead of Sunday so I will be over for most of the day. I am looking forward to seeing everyone.

My spring break is only 3 days away...So I will probably see a lot of whoever is around during next week as well.

Everyone is talking about how EXCITED they are for the 90 degree weather and I think they are crazy. I can't wait to say "I TOLD YA SO" when they start complaining about being sweaty trying to walk to class.

Love to everyone...

My Acceptance

So i got my acceptance letter from Georgia Southwestern. No, it's not my first choice in school, it is my first acceptance. Also, in case you didn't already know, Annie got accepted to Tech (Dad, I think her parenrs convinced her that it was a good school because now she really wants to go)! She is really excited !

Family Dinner - Friday 3/16

Mom and I want to try to take everyone to dinner on Friday night. Ethan and Korey are also invited. If Veronica has to work we will shoot for 8:00, but if she can get off we will try for earlier.

We (that means MOM!) are going to pick the restaurant, but feel free to leave suggestions in the comment section.

My interview, etc

I had my first interview yesterday with URS Corp. It went pretty well; it was a lot shorter than I expected it. I think everyone would have gotten a big laugh out of me dressed like a business woman, in hose and heels and shoulder pads and all...
One down, four to go I guess.

I will be coming around home on Saturday.
Mom, what time would you like to go shopping? I think it would work pretty well if Ethan dropped me off and we went shopping and then he could come back for dinner. But i don't know what you had in mind. You can give me a call.

I am cooking dinner tomorrow night so anyone is going to be around better make other plans. hah..just kidding. I still can't exactly decide what I want to make. But recently I got the Students Go Vegan Cookbook with my christmas gift card money, so I think I might make something from there.
Ethan also expressed the desire to make a cake, so maybe we'll get dessert. It is uncanny how well he can ice a cake, seriously.
Personally, I want to give him a recipe for vegan cookie cake but I don't think that is exactly what he had in mind.

ONE MORE WEEK UNTIL MY SPRING BREAK! I can't wait to see you all.
When I come back from spring break I will probably finish my DJ training and that will be fun.
That's all I have I guess.
Hope everyone is well.

go emma!

Emma has her first co-op interview today! Good Luck Emma-Pie!

Need a good laugh???

Hey guys! OK, I know I need a good laugh every other minute.....especially at the expense of CRAZY CHRISTIANS!!!

http://www.chick.com/catalog/tractlist.asp

This stuff is insane. I know I have seen a few of these in real life, but never some of the crazier ones. My personal favorites are "Doom Town," "Angels," and "The Birds and the Bees."

Its so ridiculous they're message. They say multiple times that a killer who finds Jesus will get into heaven while these two elderly human rights workers who devoted their lives to saving sick kids are going to Hell. It blows my mind that people believe this garbage.

Oh, and one last thing:

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

hahah remind you of anyone? (KIDDING!!!)

Love you guys, see some of you tommorrow!

myshape.com

Okay, so here's one we've all been waiting for... a website where you put in your measurements, and you can then buy clothes that (presumably) fit you. I haven't tried it yet, but I think I'm going to, and I'll let you girls know if it actually works!

happenings...

Last week around the house... well, I don't know, because I wasn't here!

But over the weekend, Emma and Ethan were here for dinner. George & Veronica were here too. We had turkey burgers on the grill and they were tasty. We had macaroni salad with it, but if you were hoping to get some leftovers, too late... Cheyenne beat you to it!

Twi & Korey are in Savannah, of course. Hope they are having fun!

Grandma D says she is feeling a little better, getting up and about a little more than last week, but still not 100%. Her back is still hurting sometimes.

George cleaned out the garage this afternoon. Did a nice job. He's been out driving too, and doing well with that too.

Veronica has been attending driver's ed. She says it's boring and there are no cute boys. Hummph.

Kacie hasn't been around --- nor have we had any posts from her lately! --- but Mike says she's doing well. We think she'll be visiting next weekend.

Mike is back in Virginia for the week. So we had a little over day between the time I came home and the time he left!

As for me, I'm scouting around for another new knitting project. How about this:

Neither of us will have our laptops with us so don't e-mail unless you want a super delayed response. But don't hesitate to call if you need anything!
Hopefully pictures will follow. That depends on if I lose my camera again or not... -_-
I'd say: Enjoy your Spring Breaks! But I think I'm the only one on it right now... Haha! ^o^

Emma and the Of Montreal Show

Hey family,

I thought I would fill you in on what I have been up to.
Saturday Ethan and I went to see Of Montreal at the Variety Playhouse and it was indescribably good. I saw them last year with Chris but I must admit that this time was much better. The image to the left DOES NOT do the (male) lead singer justice as far as his live performances go, but...you'd have to see a show to really understand how special he is. Hah. It was totally worth what little sleep we got last night

I have a huge Organic Chemistry test on Tuesday so wish me luck.

Southern Poly has spring break next week but mine isn't for three more weeks, so I am a little jealous. I think we all need a break.

Anyone who can get to a computer or radio on Friday at 12 should listen to 91.1 WREK because I am going to get to do the whole set by myself this week. If you can't listen at noon you can always listen to the archives on the website as well! I am the blue plate special so if you want to hear me on air...go to the website and click the play button for the friday @ noon show! If you go there now you can hear last weeks set which I had a small amount of airtime during. It's pretty awesome...

I guess that is all. I should really go back to studying.
I hope everyone is well. I hope mom is enjoying her bonding, learning experience or whatever that is.

I love you all and hope you are well. UPDATE, PEOPLE!

Friday, February 23, 2007

Sorry I didn't post this week! With Mike home, seems like I don't have as much time to write! Also, I started a new knitting project and that is taking away from my time on-line.

Anyway, it's officially the weekend now, so I hope everyone is planning to have fun.

I am going on my business trip to North Carolina next week. My flight is Sunday afternoon, and I won't be back till Friday. Mike will be home while I'm away, for those of you who worry about George!

Veronica is spending the night tonight, since she has driver's ed in the morning. Cheyenne is over for a bit this evening too, she will be leaving soon though. I don't think Kacie will be home at all this weekend.

Twila was going to come over tonight but I missed her call :-( . Too bad, because it's been over a week since we saw her and I would have liked to have her over! She was supposed to go to Atlanta to have dinner with Emma on Wednesday, and I never heard what happened yet. Maybe I should check my Visa bill...

Emma called on Thursday with computer/network problems which we got resolved; but I was getting dinner ready when she called so we didn't have time to talk. I' m not sure if she will be over on Sunday or not.

So I guess what I'm saying is that I don't have any news... So if anyone else does, they should post it!

Here is where I am going next week: CCL

And, a picture too:

WREK Radio and other things...

Hello family,

I know I made the last post, but I wanted to remind you all that I will be at the WREK Radio sation on friday at noon "dummy op-ing" the Blue Plate Special. It's 91.1 on the dial...and this time I am going to make Gabe let me read something on air.
For those of you that can't hear it on the radio, you can get it streaming online as well.

I am still a quite a few weeks from becoming a full-blown DJ; I have to take a test and submit a "air-check CD," but after that I plan to do The Classics at 6 or 7am which is all classical music. And maybe someday I'll launch my own show. Who knows...

I am also going to be a project coordinator for Tech Beautification Day in April. It is a campus wide community service day to better the school and community. I'll be in charge of directing a group of people working on a project. It's going to be a lot of fun, especially since it will be spring.

I will, in fact, be coming to dinner on Saturday night and bringing Ethan. And I can cook for Kacie and I if need be. I miss cooking, so I would be more than willing to whip something up. Maybe something that won't involve me taking up a too much space in the kitchen.

Oh...and I got a 60% on my Physics test. Ouch. But I was still above the class average! Significantly. So i don't feel quite so bad. And since my last test was so good, I should be okay.

I'll call sometime before we come over on Saturday. Do you have a dinnertime estimate?
All Ethan and I will be doing Saturday is homework, so we can come whenever.

Love you all!

Emma

Happy V-day

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope everyone is having a good day. It isn't even appropriate for me to discuss all of the antics that have been going on at Georgia Tech today. But it is fun I guess.
Ethan bought me vegan marshmallows! I guessed it 2 weeks ago so it wasn't a surprise. But he is visiting tonight and we'll be making s'mores.
:D
It is going to be fun.
But we both have tons of homework.

I haven't told Ethan this yet but we will be coming around sometime on Saturday. And I'll be home on sunday too.
So I guess I'll see everyone around.
Miss you.

Note for Twi

A package came for you, from a hotel. I think it is your eyeglasses case. Maybe your eyeglasses are inside of it too. ;-)

(Thanks to Mike, he saw that I accidentally posted this the first time as Grandpa! I was setting up accounts for Grandma and Grandpa I forgot I was logged in as him!!)

Identity Theft - No Joke

Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in America. We all need to be extremely careful to protect our personal information. This includes bank account numbers, email and / or account passwords and user names, mother's maiden name, student id's and especially Social Security Numbers. Very few people actually have a right to ask for your SS number. Your school's administration, credit applications, insurance companies, doctors and hospitals need that number. Blockbuster does not.

If you ever get an email from any institution that says anything like - "Please verify your account numbers" etc. it is ALWAYS a fraud. No reputable firm will ever ask you to verify this information. They will try to trick you over the telephone too. If anyone ever calls you and asks for that sort of information, hang up, look up the number of the institution that the caller claimed to represent and call that number. Don't ask the caller for the number because obviously if they are a fraud they will give you their number and not that institution's correct phone number.

It is a good idea to write down your Check Card and any Credit Card numbers that you carry on a separate piece of paper (or photo copy) and hide it in a safe place in your house. If your wallet is ever stolen you are to call the police first and then any bank or credit institution that was involved. If you lose it you don't have to call the police, otherwise do the same as above.

DO NOT CARRY YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY CARD ON YOUR PERSON. KEEP IT IN A SAFE PLACE AT HOME.

If you have any questions, please ask me or ConnieMom.

And, I won't be seeing this:

Last night I woke up in time to see this:

(I guess Kacie, Emma, Cheyenne and George are all happy that they won rock album of the year.)

But, I slept through this:

Tomorrow, the news says I'm going to wake up to this:

I can't wait for Friday so I can see this:

Have a great week everyone, and keep your fingers crossed. I'm currently talking to 2 companies in Atlanta that look promising. Both positions include some travel, but no Sunday through Friday week in and week out.

happenings...

Not much going on around here this weekend...

Mike left for Georgetown; he will be gone until Friday, as usual. We miss him already!

Last I heard from Twi, she had to go back down to Macon because she left her eyeglass case at the Hotel she stayed at for GCPA. Oh, yeah, and by the way, her eyeglasses were in them.

Kacie was feeling a little low this morning, so we were hoping today's mini-poll would cheer her up a little!

We thought we might see Cheyenne for a minute this weekend, but she musta been busy because we haven't heard from her. I'm hoping she'll post to let us know how the new job is going! Haven't heard from Veronica either; hope to see them both on Wednesday!

Emma has kept us pretty well informed with her posts this week. Which is good, because she wasn't home this weekend either. I think she probably has a little homework to do.

Aunt Boonya goes back to work tomorrow after her operation! I can tell you for sure, everyone at work is very happy about that! We got to see her a few minutes and she looked very well.

As for George, he's been building a fort with his friends... and oh yeah, and I finally took him out driving...

DJ Captain Planet

Hey guys,

I know I just posted a few days ago, but I have some more things to tell everyone!
First of all...there have been some issues at our dining hall. And for some unknown reason we had been using styrofoam plates and bowls and plastic silverware for 3 or 4 weeks. I decided to make a complaint to the manager of Woodruff (my dining hall) about how much excess garbage we were producing everyday, especially styrofoam, which doesn't degrade in landfills. He sent me back an e-mail explaining what the issue was and said "Thank you for taking the time to bring this to my attention. This concern should be resolved by this afternoon." Sure enough, when I went to dinner we were back to our regular reusable plateware!
Saving the planet one complaint at a time...
haha.

Also, I am training to become a DJ and tomorrow is my first day on air at the radio station, WREK 91.1 so I wanted to encourage you all to tune in from 12-1pm. The show is called Blue Plate Special. You can hear it streaming on the website www.wrek.org.
I don't know how much air time I will have this first time, but listen for me! I'll be the DJ in training at that same time every week until I learn to work all the equipment.
So, check it out!

Em

Internet Dangers

Okay so you've heard it all before... Mike and I are always telling you "Be careful on line, don't trust that people are who they pretend to be."

I know it's tiresome, but we know what we're talking about, and as far as I'm concerned, you can't be reminded enough. And you don't have to be 10 years old to fall for it. If you don't believe me, read this article.

Be careful who you trust!

For Mom because I've neglected the blog....

So if you want a GCPA report there's not much to tell. I ate a triple plate of chili and cheese hasbrowns at Wafflehouse before arriving and that beat out Eric's double which he almost didn't finish so I felt like a serious man because Eric is like a big block 6 foot 4 kinda guy. However, in Eric's defense, he ate a hamburger two-ish hours before hand.
Um, we got to the hotel, had too many rooms, played Scrabble where even though I spelled some awesome words like Krill and Diode I came in last. This may also be because I had a useless Q and I helped everyone else with their words.... Including telling them where to put them.
We went to little conferences in the morning and what not. Unfortunately I'm a bit upset because Karen attended the Advance Layout session with me and whereas I already planned on making layout A LOT more interesting, this now inspired her to do so, so it's not going to look like it changed all because of me. :/ But that's just a bit selfish.
It is quite amusing to go and see what other schools paper's problems are. SCAD has some crazy ones. Like whether or not it's ethical to print quotes from a guy's blog about how he wanted to create obscene films to shock people after hanging himself. O_o.... We're like: "Hmm, how do we get more writers? How do we get more NEWS...?"
However, upon our return, I am offically taking over meetings. Kinda scary. I've been writing out payroll and what not too. And I have to write out my budget for next year to submit to SGA. Ek! When I told mum I wanted to be a manager so that I could have a budget, I didn't realize it was such a frigtening concept. If I do poorly and don't get the money I need allocated, I'll actually have to kick-butt trying to get advertising. That would NOT be good...
Academically, not too much is happening. All my classes are pretty easy. I'm discovering how to go about becoming a transient student at Kennesaw to partake in the Asian studies minor. Yay Chinese courses! This is at times hilarious because no one knows what is going on and they print out e-mails for me that they wouldn't normally show me just because they have useful information in them. I love watching people admit their failings.
What really motivated me to get cracking on this was A) my decision to take Pre-Calc during the summer where all I could but was work and dedicate time to it and B) because Sera and I went to Georgia's 'China Town,' which is pretty pathetic, but also crazy cool.
And, for the 4 girls in this family, we found a HUGE MORNING GLORY STORE! Woohoo! I was so excited. It was totally amazing. If you want to know where, I'll give directions.

My Days

Hey Family!

Just posting to tell you about a few things...

I've had some academic success...I got an 87 on my physics test (class average was a 64) and a 91 on my organic chemistry test (class average was a 75). So that is an improvement from last semester anyway. And in chem I did better than my study partner who was one of the smartest kids at Pope. Rose, who is his girlfriend, has demanded that I help him. I thought it was the other way around!

Also, I have been sending my resume out. I have two interviews so far. They are in March with HNTB Corporation and Geo-Hydro Engineers Inc. Although I am nervous, it is exciting to be entering the world of real jobs. No more QT for me...
This is the description of the job at Geo-Hydro:
"Co-ops will support geotechnical and materials engineers in performing subsurface explorations, seismic refraction surveys, erosion control inspections, CAD, soil classification, soil testing, concrete testing, agggregate testing, asphalt testing, and construction inspection. "
That is my top choice as of right now!

I finally watched "Good Morning" the movie Mike burned for me for my English class and it was great. My favorite so far.

Also I have a movie reccommendation for everyone. It's called Idiocracy, and it has Luke Wilson in it. It's about the future and rather than society advancing, everyone gets really stupid.
It is hilarious.

Now I have to go study for my calc test! Talk to you all later.
Hope you are well.

Emma

Veg-Head

Love veggies? Love snow? Boy have I got the news article for you!

Their 10-foot sculpture, called ''Veg-Head,'' had cherry tomato eyes, a peapod grin, bell pepper ears, a jalapeno nose, and a pumpkin-like top.

''Veg-head'' took 30 hours to carve, Chris Andrews said.

Too bad no one picked "ski vacation". Cause that's where we WERE going to go. ;-)

Happenings...

Well, lets see what's been going on...

Mike is home this week -- yay!!

Twi and Korey stopped by on Thursday. Korey was having trouble with his battery and was going to get a new one. Twi was going to GCPA this weekend. I'd love to hear how it went! Maybe she'll post a report.

Cheyenne attended her orientation for Publix on Saturday. She said that, while it wasn't exactly fun, it wasn't bad either. For those of you who didn't see her, she let Veronica straighten her hair for her before the orientation. She looked so different, her own mother didn't recognize her!

Emma was home over the weekend. I took her shopping for clothes so she'll have something for her co-op interviews. We found her a very cute skirt/blazer set. Also, Ethan was over for dinner on Saturday; we had pasta.

George attended Amber's semi-formal at the Chimney Springs Club House on Saturday night. Apparently he "could've danced all night", or perhaps he did! At any rate, he was shakin' it so much his legs were sore the next day! He's sleeping on the couch now, so I guess it took a lot out of him. Imagine what it did for the girls...

Kacie stayed at UGA this weekend. I don't know know a whole lot about what she was up to, but I hoped she enjoyed her tuna casserole!

As for Veronica, she pretty much spent the whole weekend straightening Cheyenne's hair! ;-)

A Request~

Dear Connie--

I love your recipie section, however, could you someday put up Tuna Noodle Cassarole and that noodle and cabbage dish? Those are two of my favorites and I was looking for them today.
:( Thanks!!!!

Love,
Kacie

I want free food saturday.

Hey family...

I was wondering what is going to be up on Saturday night. Because I wanted to come over for dinner and bring my man with me. That is, if there is going to be some good grub. Haha...just kidding. But seriously, are there Saturday dinner plans? Because Ethan and I would like to come over for a bit. I can get my own food or something if need be.

So I had my first test of the semester, and it was in physics. The answers were posted online and well...let's just say I know I got atleast a 70 on it but probably not a B. I am rather annoyed.

I learned two new words today.
The first is squalene which wikipedia defines as: a low density compound often stored in the bodies of cartilaginous fishes such as sharks, who lacking a swim bladder must reduce their body density with fats and oils.
The second is chiral (ch sounds like "k" as in kite) defined as material with either a left or right handed helical arrangement. That might not make sense to you folk, but I will give you a hint, the hands on your body can be described as chiral.
That is my vocab lesson for the day. Oh how I love organic chemistry...

Another exciting thing is that I might be going to the Rocky Horror Picture show with Ethan on Friday night. He has some friends that might take us. I am scared though because they like to humiliate first timers including but not limited to making them dance, act out profane scenes, and eat twinkies. I am REALLY hoping they don't make me eat a twinkie. That would be cruel.

Oh and somebody should make everyone else switch over to Beta because it is sad that they are not listed as contributors anymore! *SOB*

Alrighty well it is time for me to get back to studying.
Talk to you guys soon.

Em

How many different products in a grocery store?

Yesterday when we were at Publix, Emma asked me how many different products a grocery store would stock. Oddly enough, I happened across the answer while reading a news article today:

Richard A. Galanti, Costco’s chief financial officer, said that while a grocery store might stock 40,000 separate types of items, and a Wal-Mart might stock 100,000, Costco will stock only the 4,000 most popular items it can find.

So I guess that answers the question!

Crazy Lady

This lady is crazy!

"Mallory: I must not quit
For the first time since she embarked on a relentless campaign to remove Potter from Gwinnett county's school libraries in August 2005, Laura Mallory has spoken out in detail about her motives. In a new article, she slams "myths" such as "this is a one-woman fight" and "witchcraft is just harmless fantasy." She writes that young children have been indoctrinated into witchcraft, causing their lives to be ruined. Furthermore, she implies that Potter is the reason for "violence, drugs, gangs, addictions, perversions" in schools nowadays, and that "we need God in America again."In response to the question, "Do you believe Harry Potter promotes Wicca," JKR replied in a 2001 interview with this: "That's not true. Not once has a child come up to me and said, 'Due to you I've decided to devote my life to the occult.' People underestimate children so hugely. They know it's fiction. When people are arguing from that kind of standpoint, I don't think reason works tremendously well. But I would be surprised if some of them had read the books at all [Mallory hasn't]."Witches and wizards are a huge part of children's literature; it'll never go away. Hundred years, two hundred years' time there'll be another kind of wizard story."You can now contact Ms. Mallory at her website. Also, we don't plan to post anything Mallory-related until a verdict of her current case arrives. ""

Around the house this weekend....

Today is George's Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheyenne is supposed to come over tonight and spend the night; she's taking the SAT tomorrow. Let's wish her luck!

Veronica may come over with Cheyenne tonight; we all hope she does!

Mike is coming home from Washington DC tonight after a week away at a Java class. He will be heading back out again for Chicago on Sunday, so try to get a chance to say hi to him for the short while he is home.

We hadn't really planned a party for George this weekend; it's hard with Mike away and everything. But Twila says she'll be here if we have one.

Emma is going to visit Kacie at UGA tonight. Then they are both coming home for a visit; yay!

That's all for now!

Comic Strip

Hello family...

I have an exciting post for you today.
So there is this comic strip called "Totally Not Vegan" and it is about experiences that vegans have with people that don't have a clue what it is like or sometimes what a vegan is.
and well, this week the comic is about me!
I sent a story in a while ago and they agreed to put me in the strip.
So here it is!

Isn't that exciting?
I thought so.

:D

Hey now, Hey now now! Sing this corrosion to me...

^ Song that gets very stuck in your head!
Um, yes, I am jobless! But it's wonderful... (Minus not having money and choosing what you're going to do and when and I've got a nice tax return to look forward too - watch out for them papers mum!)
And I'm training to be Editor-in-Chief! Yay! And that will give me a bit more money as I'll be working on layout a lot. Plus, I got to see everyone's social security numbers today, heh heh heh... Speaking of, I might get W2s from the school as well and they'll probably be sent to you, mum.
I'm also working on the Formula SAE team and I'll be designing their website (link to follow when it's done) as well as the project I'm currently working on: editing and making an electronic copy of their Design and Cost reports. That means this summer I may be going to Michigan with 'em as I'm going to be doing all their presentation work.
All my classes are going pretty well, meeting some new people, so that's good.
Korey is enjoying his internship, although the commute isn't great.
Unfortunately, my irritation level is rising as I'm currently forced to listen to the O'Reilly Factor since Colbert is going to be on. I'm not 100% sure it's worth it.

A great website

Hey fam...

Hope everyone is doing well. School has picked up significantly so I have been spending my hours in a cubicle in the library. Makes for an exciting life let me tell you...
It is so ridiculous that I probably shouldn't even be using my time to post this but I just had to.

This is a link that I go to every day that I think some other family members might enjoy as well. It is updated multiple times a day and there are tons of archives to look through if you ever get bored (like I know about boredom...right...) The site is called Cute Overload. So go check it out and be prepared to squeal with joy.

:D Hope you all (well...the girls of the family anyway) enjoy it.

TTYL.
Maybe see some of you on sunday?

Emma

Verizon cell phone users

Don't forget to update your phones every 90 days. Dial *228, press send, then take option 2. It updates the list of cell phone towers, I think, and maybe does other stuff too. Anyway I was just on the phone with Verizon and some of you haven't updated since August of 2005, so today might be a good day to do it...

ordering anything from Amazon?

How would you like free two-day shipping?

I accidentally purchased an Amazon Prime subscription. I thought I would "try" it over christmas --- they have a one-month free trial program --- but of course I forgot to cancel and I got charged the one-year membership fee. So now we have Amazon Prime. At least for one year.

Not all items are eligible. You can also get reduced prices on overnight shipping. It's a pretty good deal, and I'd like to get my money's worth from it, so I would like people to use it.

Just let me know when you are going to order anything. I can either make you a member or order it for you. Only four people at a time can be members, so I might have to swap memberships around so different people can take advantage of it.

Happenings

Well the holidays are over and I'm going to try to get back to posting at least once a week to let everyone know what's going on.

Aunt Boonya had her surgery on Friday. So far all seems well; everything seems to have gone as smoothly as possible and I think she is making a quick recovery!! Yay.

Mike's travel schedule has been updated. After a bit of time at home over the holidays he's now back on the travel grind. :-(

Speaking of travel, I have to go out of town on a business trip the last week of February. I will be gone for the whole week, South Carolina I think. Mike has scheduled to be in town that week so don't be planning a big party!

As you would know from reading her post, Cheyenne has gotten a new job. Very exciting; I'm sure she'll be happy at Publix; it seems like a good place to work.

We saw Twila and Korey on Friday; they came over for burgers on the grill. Korey has started his internship and seems to be liking it. Twila quit Office Max and is considering her next move; maybe an internship as well.

Emma was home for a short while on Sunday. She had to get back to for an "environmental awareness" club meeting and to do homework.

Cheyenne & Veronica spent the night Sunday night. We watched "Nacho Libre". It was, well, funny, in a jack-black sort of way. Not for everyone!

George has a birthday coming up --- "sweet sixteen" and never been driving yet. Sometimes the littlest birdie needs help flying from the nest!

Veronica, on the other hand, seems quite anxious to get her license. She starts driver's training February 24th.

Reminder: Tax time is coming around. Those of you with shallow incomes might want to check if you're getting anything back. I have TurboTax if anyone needs help.

And Kacie is back at UGA --- AS A SENIOR!! Holy cow, is that possible??? GO KACIE!!

well it was very close

Think hard before you click that button...
